Interesting to look at Al Jazeera’s coverage of the protests in Iran. They’re reporting police abuse and calling the government’s actions what it is, a clampdown. And there’s no bias in the coverage toward either candidate. Compare that to how Fox News smeared dissenters leading up to the Iraq War or those who protested the 2000 US presidential election. Oddly, Al Jazeera reports, Fox decides.

This is also the first major international story where Youtube and Twitter are clearly beating the old media to the punch and providing much more raw footage than the networks could ever broadcast. Another milestone for the new media.
